I work with analogue film, sound and music across different formats, including expanded cinema.

I am interested in what kind of existence remains possible when a person or living being is stripped of their histories, relationships and attachments. What can persist beyond identity, and in what form? My work explores whether presence can continue in a reduced or transformed state, through a fragment, a trace, an image or a sound.

What fascinates me about analogue film is the possibility of using its surface to hold both an image and the physical evidence of what produced it. I ask whether a trace is only evidence of something that has disappeared, or whether it can remain connected to its source and become a continuation of its presence.

Across image, sound and performance, I explore how a subject can be made present through the medium that reproduces it. I search for the point at which that form begins to actualise the presence it carries.

I had an amazing experience developing my research and project TRANSFE/\R during my residency in HET HUIS UTRECHT. Moreover, in the foyer, we build up an installation about my project, part of it is still there!

I’m very proud that my piece for Ensemble Black Pencil is part of the soundtrack of this beautiful project with the always amazing Black Pencil and the super talented choreographer Samir Calixto ! A big tour in the whole Netherlands, check it out!!!

TRANSFE/\R – AFK, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds

My research on 16mm film and optical sounds has been awarded by AFK with a year long Stipendium. The research channels its results in the interdisciplinary project TRANSFE/\R. This project is made possible also also by Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds
